A More Targeted Approach to Unwanted Pigmentation

Years of sun exposure and natural skin changes can leave visible brown spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation. Our advanced laser treatment delivers short, concentrated pulses of energy that target selected pigment in the skin. The body gradually clears the disrupted pigment, helping treated spots become less noticeable over time.

Our clinic uses advanced picosecond laser technology for targeted removal of suitable, individually evaluated pigmented spots on the hands, décolleté, arms and other body areas. Individual facial spots may also be evaluated for targeted treatment when appropriate.

For widespread facial freckles, diffuse facial pigmentation or general facial skin-tone concerns, we generally prefer our Carbon Laser Facial treatment. The Carbon Laser Facial is gentler and avoids the temporary crusting, scabbing or small surface wounds associated with aggressive targeted spot treatments.

Where Can Laser Pigment Treatment Help?

Laser pigment treatment can be applied to several common sun-exposed areas. We evaluate each concern individually to determine whether targeted laser treatment is appropriate for your skin and the specific pigmentation.

Face

Selected discrete sun spots and age spots. For widespread facial freckles or diffuse pigmentation, our Carbon Laser Facial is often our preferred approach.

Hands

Sun-related brown age spots on the backs of the hands — one of our most popular targeted laser treatment areas.

Neck & Décolleté

Selected sun spots and uneven pigmentation on sun-exposed skin along the neck and upper chest.

Other Suitable Areas

Individually evaluated pigmented spots on the arms, shoulders and other areas of the body.

Noticeable Improvement May Take Just 1–2 Sessions

Many suitable sun spots and age spots can improve after one or two targeted laser treatments. The number of sessions depends on the type, depth, size and density of pigmentation, skin type and individual response. Some conditions may require more treatments or a different approach. Results are not guaranteed, and daily broad-spectrum sun protection helps reduce the chance of new pigmentation developing.

Dark Marks and True Scars Are Different

Understanding the difference between surface discoloration and deeper structural skin changes helps ensure realistic expectations and appropriate treatment selection.

Pigmented Marks

Flat brown or darker marks, including sun spots, age spots and some post-inflammatory discoloration, may be candidates for targeted pigment treatment after individual evaluation.

Textured Scars

Raised, indented, thickened or keloid scars involve structural collagen changes deep in the skin. They do not respond to pigment-focused laser treatment and require different specialized approaches. We evaluate scar type and suitability individually and do not guarantee scar removal.

Which Laser Treatment Is Right for Your Skin?

We believe in matching the right laser technology to your specific skin concern, treatment location and lifestyle preferences.

Targeted Laser Spot Treatment

Best discussed for individual suitable sun spots, age spots and selected pigmented marks, particularly on the hands, décolleté, arms and body. Concentrated picosecond laser pulses act directly on pigment, which the body clears as the skin heals. Temporary darkening, crusting, redness and small surface wounds can occur during healing.

Carbon Laser Facial

Often our preferred approach for facial freckles, diffuse uneven-looking pigmentation and overall facial skin rejuvenation. This protocol is gentler and gradual, avoiding the temporary crusting or surface scabbing of targeted spot treatments. It generally requires a series of treatments for optimal results.

During your free consultation, we will examine your pigmentation, explain what to expect with each approach, and help you select the safest, most effective treatment for your goals.

Treatment Safety & Suitability

Laser pigment treatment is not appropriate for all pigmented lesions, skin types or conditions. We carefully review your skin, health history and the specific pigmented area before proceeding to confirm cosmetic laser treatment is safe and suitable for you.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Any new, changing, irregular, bleeding, dark or otherwise suspicious pigmented lesion must be medically assessed by a qualified physician or dermatologist before cosmetic laser treatment. We do not perform laser treatment on undiagnosed or suspicious lesions.

What to Expect

A clear, comfortable approach to your laser dark spots & scar removal treatment.

01

01 — Personalized Consultation

We assess your skin, pigmentation, treatment area and medical history to confirm laser treatment is safe and determine whether targeted spot treatment or a Carbon Laser Facial is best suited for you.

02

02 — Targeted Laser Session

Short laser pulses are applied to selected spots. A typical small or medium-density treatment area on the hands or chest takes approximately 15 minutes or less, depending on the area and pigmentation.

03

03 — Gradual Visible Improvement

Treated pigment may initially darken or form temporary surface crusts before flaking away. Improvement generally develops over the following 2–4 weeks. Some spots respond after 1–2 sessions; others may benefit from additional treatment.
